This page explains, in plain terms, how Amber Abode makes money and the rules we hold ourselves to while doing it. It applies site-wide and is written to comply with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement guides.

We earn commissions on some links

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, the retailer may pay us a commission — typically a small percentage of the sale. You never pay more because you used our link; in some cases you may pay less, through a sale or promotion the retailer is running. Affiliate commissions are how we fund the research, testing, and writing you see here.

Commissions do not influence our recommendations

Our editors choose what to recommend before commission rates enter the conversation. We regularly recommend products that pay us nothing at all, and we say so when we do. When a product has real weaknesses, we list them — that is the entire point of a review. No brand has paid for, previewed, or approved a rating, placement, or mention on this site, and we do not accept free products in exchange for coverage.

How affiliate links are labeled

Outbound retailer links in our reviews, guides, and deal listings are marked with rel="nofollow sponsored" so search engines and readers can identify them as commercial links. Every page that contains affiliate links carries a visible disclosure near the top of the article, and our deals section carries a dedicated disclosure block. If you ever find a commercial link we failed to label, please tell us — we treat that as a bug.

What this does not change

The presence of a commission does not mean a product is good; it only means the retailer participates in an affiliate program. Our testing notes, pros and cons, and comparisons reflect our own research and judgment. Prices and availability change constantly, so treat figures on our pages as snapshots and verify on the retailer’s site before buying.
