About Amber Abode

Last updated: September 9, 2026

Our story

Amber Abode started the way most useful websites do: with a frustrating shopping trip. One of our editors spent three evenings comparing floor lamps, only to discover that most “warm white” listings contradicted each other on color temperature, and no review actually measured it. We built this site to be the resource we wished existed then — a small, independent home content site focused on warm, livable spaces.

We cover lighting, bedroom and furniture, home decor, and kitchen and dining. Roughly four out of five pieces we publish are reviews and buying guides; the rest are deal roundups and promotion notes. Whatever the format, the goal is the same: specific, testable claims you can check before spending money.

How we research

Every buying guide starts with a spec, not a shopping list. We define what “good” means for the category — measured color temperature for lamps, firmness and edge support for mattresses, chip-resistance for dinnerware — then compare products against that spec using manufacturer data, verified buyer reviews, and hands-on testing where we can get the product. We do not accept free products in exchange for coverage, and we buy or borrow items on the same terms you would.

Our editorial standards

  • Independent picks. Recommendations are chosen by our editors before anyone looks at commission rates. We regularly recommend products that pay us nothing.
  • Clear disclosure. Every article carries a visible affiliate disclosure, and outbound retailer links are labeled. Our full policy is on the affiliate disclosure page.
  • Updates over volume. We revisit guides when products change or prices move, and every page shows its last-updated date. Corrections are made in place, not quietly deleted.
  • No pay-to-play. Brands cannot buy a placement, a rating, or a mention. Merchants we work with in the deals section have no influence over review content.

The editorial team

Maya Ellis is our Lighting Editor. She has spent years specifying residential lighting and approaches every guide with a color meter and a dimmer switch.

Daniel Hart is our Bedroom Editor. He researches mattresses, bed frames, and bedding with a focus on materials and long-term durability rather than first-week impressions.

Sofia Lund is our Kitchen & Decor Editor. She covers dinnerware, textiles, and decor with an emphasis on pieces that survive daily use.
